Teach Us to Pray (Part 3): Hallowed Be Your Name

  • Our Father in heaven,
    hallowed be your name,
    your kingdom come,
    your will be done,
    on earth as it is in heaven.
    Give us today our daily bread.
    And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.
    And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil,
    for yours is the kingdom
    and the power and the glory forever.
    Amen.

     

  • Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up.”

    When the LORD saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said further, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.

  • Moses said, “Show me your glory, I pray.”

    And he said, “I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim before you the name, ‘The LORD’...

  • The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name, “The LORD.” The LORD passed before him, and proclaimed,

    “The LORD, the LORD,
    a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger,
    and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,
    keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation,
    forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin,
    yet by no means clearing the guilty,
    but visiting the iniquity of the parents
    upon the children and the children’s children,
    to the third and the fourth generation.”

    And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.
